Hoërskool Linden runs a project called “Ukunaka” where learners are challenged to care about their surroundings and start making a difference.
Ukunaka means ‘to care’
The complexity of South Africa is visible in a community like Linden where someone can go through their lives without even noticing or caring about their neighboring community of Windsor.
Windsor is a suburb of Johannesburg that is characterized by poverty and crime. Many property owners in the surrounding communities are concerned about their own property values and often complain about their Windsor.
This group of dedicated learners ran a campaign to raise food, clothing and stationary for the children of the Windsor Aftercare programme.
